Why Spring Valley?

Spring Valley Greenhouse, Inc. has been producing quality clematis since 1981 and currently we are the largest wholesale producer of clematis liners in North America. We didn't get to be the largest without a lot of hard work and attention to detail.

Reason #1 - Our Propagation Techniques

Our propagation techniques and growing conditions are state-of-the-art, and unlike many other producers, we propagate 100% of the clematis in our facility. Propagation is done under very strict guidelines designed to provide you with the finest plants. Vigorous & Healthy almost go without saying, but we go further.

* All of our plants are encouraged to grow freely and trained to climb. We use no growth inhibitors or pruning techniques designed to cram more young plants into a small area. Sure it takes more work and more space, but the results speak for themselves.
* All of our plants are flowered to insure the plants are true to variety and that you get what you ordered

Reason #2 -Clematis Wilt

Clematis wilt is the single most insidious disease that growers face and we have been wilt-free for years. Wilt is soil-borne, highly transferable and deadly. Once a plant is infected it cannot be treated. It will contaminate other plants and growing soil every time it is transplanted or re-potted.

Retailers and their customers are often unaware of the problem because wilt doesn't show itself until the plant is nearly full grown, then the foliage wilts and the plant dies. To prevent Clematis Wilt all of our plants are grown on raised benches in sterilized greenhouses using a sterilized soiless medium to eliminate any possibility of wilt or other harmful diseases. Soil-grown plants always run a higher risk of contamination.

Reason #3 - Insect Damage

Insect damage and infestation are huge concerns for all Retailers and Gardeners, especially where Thrip and the associated deadly viruses they carry are concerned. The controlled environment of our greenhouses is our first line of defense against infestation. It protects our plants and to further reduce any potential for infestation we employ a regularly scheduled preventative spraying program.

Reason #4 - Crunched for Time or Space

We offer two choices ready for display

* check our finished 2 year-old Plants in a 1 gallon, white granite pot trained to 26" pre-installed trellises
* or, select our finished 1 year-old plants in a 5" Kord Fiber pot trained to 12" pre-installed trellises

Reason #5 - Plenty of space & looking to save money

We also offer dormant plants or pre-started Plants either in bulk or as retail display packs.

SVG offers one of the widest selections of Clematis & other Flowering Vines available anywhere. We offer old-time favorite varieties, today's standards, and many newly available varieties.
